How to Create a New Domain

- Check WHOIS
  - If you haven’t heard of WHOIS, then to give you quick insight, it is is used to query databases for information on domain names. This is an easy way to find out if someone owns a domain name that you might be interested in. It will also tell you who owns it if you’re interested in trying to purchase it from them (only if they’re willing to sell).
- Find the Right Registrar
  - Find a site that sells domain names. Some of the most widely used ones are BlueHost, HostGator and GoDaddy. A little Googling always helps so you can see which one will fit your needs depending on the size of the site and who you want to host with.
- Register the Domain Name
  - Once you’ve found the domain name that you would like (assuming it is available) then add it to your cart and continue with the checkout process.
- If Hosting w/ a Different Company Configure Registrar
  - Many registrars will offer hosting along with domain name purchase but if you happen to get hosting from another company then make sure to access your DNS settings and add name servers to your domain with your registrar.
